Housing Department
& Applications

Home > Our People > Housing Department
& Applications

Access to sustainable housing for settlement members is a priority for the Fishing Lake Métis Settlement Council. Members can apply to the Housing Department at FLMS for land, authority to survey, and funds for housing and maintenance.  If you are in need of repairs, emergency repairs, new housing, or all other member housing issues, please contact the department head at the contact information listed on this page. Application forms can be picked up in person.

The Settlement Council hires local and outside contractors to build homes and other work as needed. Businesses may need to be pre-qualified before bidding and preference will be given to resident members and companies that hire resident members.

All requests for bids on contract services over $2,000 are posted for a minimum of 10 days on the FLMS website and social media pages, as well as public posting areas in the Settlement office, post office and LED sign. Contractors working on the Settlement must acquire a license from Economic Development. All contractors working for FLMS need Workers Compensation, equipment insurance, an annual commercial license and $3 million in liability insurance. Contractors must be bondable. The FLMS Contractors Policy is available here.
