FLMS has a long spiritual history and a connection to our land. This page outlines the spiritual services available in Fishing Lake Métis Settlement, as well as a spiritual tradition for our people–the annual Lac Ste. Anne Pilgrimage.
Lac Ste. Anne’s Pilgrimage
Lac Ste. Anne’s Pilgrimage is an annual spiritual gathering, held on the shores of Lac Ste. Anne in Alberta, 45 miles west of Edmonton. The pilgrimage takes place every year during the week of July 26, the feast day of St. Anne, mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The pilgrimage site was named as a national historic site by Parks Canada in 2004, in recognition of its significance as a place of social, cultural and spiritual rejuvenation to Aboriginal people, including Cree, Dene, Blackfoot and Métis. This year the pilgrimage takes place between July 22 and July 27. Find out more about the history of the pilgrimage here, or follow it on Facebook here.
