The Fishing Lake Metis Settlement wants to build our local capacity and particularly in trades. There are projects that are scheduled to happen this year and we will use this opportunity to create opportunities for committed individuals to develop skills through apprenticeship training.

The three key trades that we are seeking are Electrician, Plumbing/Gas/HVAC and Carpentry. Here are the links to information for each occupation.

Here is the chart with the educational requirements.

https://alis.alberta.ca/occinfo/occupations-in-alberta/occupation-profiles/electrician/

https://alis.alberta.ca/occinfo/occupations-in-alberta/occupation-profiles/plumber/

https://alis.alberta.ca/occinfo/occupations-in-alberta/occupation-profiles/carpenter/.

We are seeking individuals who meet their chosen trades entrance requirements as per the following chart or are near that point and are prepared to go through a process where they end up writing a trades entrance exam to reach the requirements. Tutoring may be available.

Other skills that will be required include drywall, insulating, painting

We are working within timelines and we would expect that those that are interested are committed to the timelines.

This is a starting point to having a strong reliable workforce.

Email Leon Cardinal, climatechange@flms.ca or text to 780 614 7727 or message us on the Fishing Lake Metis Settlement Bringing it Home Facebook Page, by February 5, 2021 and a phone appointment will be scheduled with you .

The applications will be reviewed for qualification to apprenticeship and a path forward will be determined.
